My name is Katie Martin and I am a Sacramento native who moved to Rocklin in 2021 and immediately fell in love with all that this area had to offer. Every week seems to bring something new to experience or someplace new to explore.

I have been working in the Real Estate industry since 2019, cherishing the meaningful and life-changing moments I share with clients each day.  As a licensed Realtor since 2023, I bring a unique perspective to helping people find their dream homes. My journey in real estate began in 2019 as a Transaction Coordinator, where I worked with Realtors from San Diego to Redding. This experience helped me develop a knack for staying calm in the most high-stress situations, so becoming a realtor has felt very purpose-driven and rewarding. I've always loved helping people, and guiding them through life's biggest purchase—often one of their most emotionally driven choices —is deeply fulfilling.

My path to real estate has been anything but ordinary. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Business Entrepreneurship from California State University, Sacramento, after knowing from a very young age that I wanted to be my own boss. Before that, I completed an Associate of Arts in Hospitality Management from American River College. Once upon a time I used to be a Pastry Chef and cook for about a decade! I still love to cook and bake as much as I possibly can, but the food industry is an unforgiving one, and I admire those who dedicate their lives to it. I left with my passion for food intact, carrying my knowledge with gratitude and pride for the years spent alongside my peers on the line. To this day, cooking remains one of my deepest expressions of love as I create meals for family and friends.

I'm a devoted wife and stepmom, sharing our home with two dogs and three cats. I am also a mover and a creator, I rarely stay in one place for long - always feeling the need to explore, experience more, and work with my hands as much as possible. My creative spirit has led me to stained glass artistry and embroidery, while my active nature has led me to year-round swimming and hiking. I'm an avid gardener, fiction reader, and movie enthusiast of all genres. There's something magical about working with your hands and staying in motion — there are endless possibilities and ways to express yourself in this world and I am on a never-ending mission to discover them all.

This Is Placer is your window into Northern California's hidden treasures. Through my stories and recommendations, I hope to share the magic of Placer County with both locals and visitors alike. My love for storytelling has followed me since I began blogging at eighteen, and now I channel that passion into showcasing the countless wonders of this region. From secret hiking trails to charming local businesses, I'm here to guide you through the best our community has to offer.

I believe deeply in the power of human connections and community building. Whether you're considering a move to Placer County, seeking real estate guidance, interested in local exploration, or simply want to share stories over coffee, I'm here to connect. I see every interaction as an opportunity to learn and grow together. Community isn't just about where we live—it's about the connections we make and the stories we share.

Gone, but still a part of my story...

Maybe some will think this is a strange thing to include here, but it felt wrong to have an online summary of myself and "who I am" exist somewhere without including two of the most important things that have existed in my life up until now.

Ellie and Dexter were my dogs from when I was 18 until they passed in 2023, two months apart from one another. They were who I explored and experienced the world with every single day for 16 years.

When they passed away I lost so much more than my dogs. I lost my best friends, my purpose, comfort, endless love, and so... so... so many happy moments. In a lot of ways, they were my home. No matter where I traveled in the world, I knew my end destination was back to them.

It took me a very long time to feel whole again and begin exploring and crafting and living again.

So I would like to dedicate this to them.

My adventures, what I share with everyone here, all of the exploring and discovering I do I dedicate to the memory of the two best adventure partners I could have ever been blessed with.

I miss you endlessly, but no matter where I go I keep you with me always.

This is for you, Ellie and Dexter.
